Vermont Transit Corridor

Overview
Metro’s Vermont Avenue transit project aims to improve travel times and provide more reliable service. The plan includes near-term bus upgrades by 2025, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) by 2028, and a long-term rail study. Features like dedicated bus lanes, electric buses, and improved stations will enhance connectivity to key destinations. Metro prioritizes community engagement and equity throughout the planning process.
Status
Metro is seeking a California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) exemption under Senate Bill 922, which supports active transportation projects like Bus Rapid Transit (BRT). Supported by analyses of racial equity, residential displacement, and business impacts, the project aims to reduce transit disparities, improve access to essential services, and enhance north-south connectivity. Public meetings, both in-person and virtual, will provide updates on the environmental review process and allow community members to review and comment on project reports from November 22 through December 20, 2024.
Tell us what you think
The Metro Vermont Transit Corridor Project team invites you to join a series of public meetings to stay informed and provide feedback on this transformative project. These meetings will focus on the project’s expedited environmental review under California Senate Bill 922 (SB 922), a law that exempts active transportation projects, including Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), from CEQA requirements. As part of this effort, Metro is preparing three critical reports: Racial Equity Analysis, Residential Displacement, and Business Case. Your input will help ensure the project delivers meaningful benefits to the community while addressing potential impacts.
