How to Enroll

Frequently Asked Questions

All those impacted by the fires, whether you lost your home, employment, or other economic opportunity, are eligible for reduced fare and discount fare programs on Metro.

In-Person: Enroll at specific locations throughout LA County. Once you complete an enrollment form you are given a TAP card that is ready to be used, immediately.

Online: Enroll online here.

Please note it takes approximately 5-7 business days to process applications. We are providing 30-day passes (valid on Metro only) to cover the waiting period

There is not a specific application deadline currently. We will provide notification a week in advance of enrollment closing.

As a current LIFE member, you qualify for an additional 90-day pass. Be sure to enter your current LIFE TAP card number when you submit your application.

You can use your physical TAP card on Metro and connected transit providers throughout the region by simply swiping at a turnstile of a rail station or when you board one of our buses. 
 
You can add your TAP card to your mobile device for ease of use. You’ll first need to download the TAP app then link your physical card to your mobile wallet. Visit TAPtogo.net for detailed step-by-step instructions. 

Metro offers bus, rail, Metro Bike (bikeshare) and Metro Micro (rideshare) services as well as connection to partner transportation service providers throughout LA County.

Your free rides can be used on Metro’s on-demand rideshare program, Metro Micro. Metro Bike and Metro Parking do not accept the free rides as payment.

Metro buses accommodate all types of wheelchairs; the mobility device must fit on the ramp and be able to maneuver to the wheelchair securement area. Operators will assist customers using a mobility device when boarding.

Metro rail stations are accessible to persons in wheelchairs, either with walkways/ramps or elevators from the street to platform. Check online for elevator outage alerts.

The pre-loaded or digital 30-day pass is valid only on Metro. After your application is processed, the 90-day pass and 20 free monthly rides can be used for participating transit operators, including Pasadena Transit once they resume collecting fares.
