Rio Hondo Confluence Station Feasibility Study
Overview
Metro has completed a Feasibility Study to evaluate adding a potential station to the West Santa Ana Branch Transit Corridor (WSAB) project at the confluence of the Los Angeles River/Rio Hondo channel (Confluence) in the City of South Gate. A potential WSAB station at the Confluence site would offer a unique opportunity to connect light rail transit (LRT) with planned community uses in the area, including multi-use trails, regional park space and a future cultural arts center.
Status
Technical analyses and early design were conducted to determine if a station at the Confluence site is feasible. The Feasibility Study included a high-level evaluation across multiple subject areas: initial engineering and station design, study of the environmental context, station operations and preliminary estimates for ridership, traffic, construction, cost and more.
