Rail Safety Month Kick Off

Kick off September’s Rail Safety Month at Union Station-East Portal!
Rail Safety Month is a national campaign aimed at raising safety awareness and educating people about the importance of exercising caution around trains and stations. Every September, Metro’s Rail Safety Programs commemorate Rail Safety Month by launching a safety campaign in the communities along Metro’s rail lines. This is part of Metro’s year-round effort to educate the public, including pedestrians and drivers, on train safety.
This year, Metro’s Safety Kids videos will take center stage, featuring on multiple media platforms and in digital and printed advertising throughout the system delivering crucial rail safety messages, such as:
- Stay behind the yellow line
- Never go around the lowered gates
- Never run for your train
- Always hold onto handrails before leaving the train station
- No skateboarding or biking on the platform

To kick off Rail Safety Month, Metro, in collaboration with Metrolink, Amtrak, and the LIFE program, will host interactive informational booths at Union Station’s East Portal.
