Overview
Location: San Fernando Valley, San Gabriel Valley
Phase: Design & Engineering
Type: Better Transit
Forecasted Opening: 2028
The North Hollywood to Pasadena Transit Corridor project is part of Metro’s plan for better transit. This project will connect the cities of Los Angeles (North Hollywood and Eagle Rock communities), Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena, improving access to jobs, education and other important destinations.
With this project, Metro is planning Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), which is faster and more reliable than regular bus service. BRT will help take cars off the road and serve neighborhoods that need public transit services the most, while improving air quality using electric zero-emission vehicles.
Status
Metro began studying various routes for this project in 2018 and concluded the final state of environmental review in 2022. A Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) was released in Fall 2020 for public review and comment. Refinements were made to the project and the Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR) was certified and the project was approved by the Metro Board of Directors on April 28, 2022.
The project is now in the preliminary design stage before it enters the start of final design and construction. Metro intends to utilize a Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) project delivery method. Utility survey work may begin as early as Summer 2025.
